Review; Beast Wars Vintage Rattrap

Rattrap is the lovable pessimist of the Beast Wars crew and growing up was my favourite of the team. Growing up I had the toys of his 3 iterations (Original, Transmetal & Beast Machines), but unfortunately I don't have any of my originals today, so this reissue is very welcome.

Off the bat (or rat, should I say) seeing this old packaging brings back a flood of nostalgia, the big beast eye and bright green lettering are a sight for sore eyes, and I am always for the inclusion of Tech Specs.

Having the figure hand and oh boy, I'm so happy to have this again. Beast mode is a solid rat with the only posable parts been the feet, slightly,  and the tail which can go up and down. Transformation is simple, lift up the tail towards the head, unplug the hands from the ports on the inside of the rat skin and its done.

I love this robot mode, such a great sculpt that holds up and super posable, yes it's all ball joints and I know in some situations they can be unsightly but they work so well here. The figure also has great accessory storage, Rattrap's blaster is in two parts and kept on the inside of the alt mode shell, brilliant, why isn't this done more?

This is how one step changers should be, yes the alt mode suffers but the robot mode is fantastic. Over all I would have to say this rat has come out of its cage.
