Review; Transformers Legacy Velocitron Seedia 500 Collection Autobot Cosmos

Coming at you live from the side of the track, we have another Velocitron Speedia 500 review. This time we are looking at everyone's favourite little cosmonaut, its Cosmos. Cosmos is the little spaceship who could and a G1 character that just really shone through from the original cartoon for me and a character I am finally happy to have a toy of, so lets take a look.

Packaging is in line with the rest of the Velocitron Speedia 500 Line with a fantastic looking art piece of Cosmos. The box window is open to help reduce plastic and inside the box we have Cosmos in their alt mode, which is how Transformers should be shipped and I will die on that hill. At the side we have a close up of the piece which is magnificent. I have to say, the box art pieces we have getting lately are amazing and I would genuinely buy prints of them if they were available. Back of the box we have the modes and number of transformation steps. Once again, like Scourge, no QR code for Tech Specs, which does irk me as I love Tech Specs.

Out of the box we get a better look at that alt mode, and it is a beauty. Based on the usual Adamski-style of UFO, this is a fantastic sculpt. Brilliant panel detailing throughout and even little exhaust ports on the back. The height of the column isn't as bad as the promotional photography made out and actually really suits the toy. Colour application is on point for the animation source and is very well applied here. The one issue I have with this mode, and it is very minor, is that at the front the panels don't cover completely, leaving a very small gap, but I don't really mind it.

Transformation is quite interesting and very well engineered. Lots of interesting design points, there is a back pack that collapses and clicks to the top of the back and the shoulders rotate towards the front and click into place. There are some design cues taken from Origins Bumblebee but it is all new parts best I can tell.

Once transformed we have this amazing robot mode, and I am incredibly impressed by it. I have to be honest that when we saw the online pictures I didn't think this was a great looking figure, but having it in hand, I am blown away. The detailing is of the fantastic quality we have come to expect with the mainline release at this point. The colour scheme just pops and is accurate to his on screen representation and the panel detailing makes it the toy doesn't look blocky. It helps to highlight detailing on the toy and not make it look cartoony. They also stand about a head taller than the other Minibots I have which slightly irks me

Articulation is everything we have come to expect from the Transformers mainline, right down to ankle pivots, with the head having slight up and down movements. The shoulders have made use of interesting butterfly joints to accommodate movement as well as maintain the UFO shell in vehicle mode. These work rather well and help form a seamless alt mode, but the left shoulder on mine is a bit loose, will need to look into something that can fix that.

Accessory wise, ol' Cosmos here comes with a chequered flag, as the role they play in the Velocitron Speedia 500 is that of Track Marshal. Turn the flag around though and Cosmos can wave a white flag in surrender, handy for when they are outnumbered by Decepticons. But Cosmos is also prepared for war, for you see, if you move the flag and rotate the flagpole, it becomes a blaster!

Overall this an amazing figure, if you can get it I would recommend it, I have barely been able to put it down since I opened it.
