This IS Your Father's Transformers; Legacy Jiaxhus Review
Generation 2 marked the beginning of the 90's for Transformers, the toy went for the loud, odd combination colours typical of toys at the time, while the Marvel Comic brought Transformers in to the "Dark Age" of comics, with nitty gritty ultra-violent shenanigans. one of the more longer lasting elements of the comic series though would have to be Jiaxhus. Jiaxhus lead a new force known as the "Cybertronians", with the aim of moving on from the war of the Autobots and Decepticons, aiming to end the war by destroying them.
There have been two toys of Jiaxhus over years, one an orange repaint of Beast Machines Jetstorm, the second an orange repaint of Thrilling 30 Armada Starscream, but this is our first G2 comic accurate rendition of the toy. This is a beautiful toy and a lot of attention was really put into this sculpt, the face especially is an amazing rendition of his comic form. There are the panelling detail all over the body which helps break up the figure, and we have the amazing piping details in the knees which are just amazing, along with the little Namor-esque ankle wings. over all an amazing looking toy.
Articulation on Jiaxhus is top notch, head is on a ball joint with decent up and down movement and can go full exorcist. Shoulders are on butterfly joints allowing for a great looking shrug. There is upper arm rotation and a greater than 90 bend in the elbow along with wrist rotation and opening and closing hands! Honestly this should be included on all the toys. Legs go all the way up and out but are limited going back. there is a little bit of thigh rotation and a greater than 90 bend in the knees along with the mandatory ankle tilt.
Transformation gives me flavours of Earthrise Seeker, you have the splitting shins, that fold over the legs to form the boosters, the cockpit chest piece and the wings of the vehicle rotating between positions for robot and vehicle. Of course it isn't entirely the same, Jiaxhus' chest piece isn't a faux piece like the Earthrise seeker, and requires opening the fron and back of the chest to put the head away and draw out the nose. When the robot arms fold in, they then pivot down to the back end of the vehicle, giving the cockpit a very slimming look.
Once transformed though you have this uniquely amazing looking Space Jet. This is such a fantastic rendition of the jet mode from the pages of the G2 Marvel comics into toy form. The colours help make the toy pop and break up the design. The jet has the typical G1 blocky design but looking at this toy, a real jet like this would not be flight worthy.
Jiaxhus comes with two blasters as his accessories, one a big large red blaster reminiscent of the typical heavy guns used in 90's comics like those used by Cable of the X-Force. The other is a smaller, dark transparent styled blaster that is a bit comically small in a Jiaxhus' hands. They can be stored on Jiaxhus' back in a slung-over-the-shoulder look and in vehicle mode under the nose cone or sides of the canopy. These two blasters can be combined side by side to form a dual barreled blaster, predating Legacy Evolutions Evo-Fusion gimmick.
Overall this is an absolutely amazing figure, if you haven't picked it up you should. Jiaxhus gives off a menacing, powerful aura and will serve as a fantastic villain for your other toys. To top it off it has amazing articulation and opening hands. A real worth while pick up, especially since now it's going a great price.
